KEY NOTE For everyone watching this video. DONT Use duck tape. Just use painters tape. Its easier to use and easy to come off.

Here is what I suggest for anyone that makes story driven videos. Call the local police and talk to the community affairs officer. Introduce yourself and let them know what you do. Ask if it might be possible to meet the officers that patrol your area. If you are going to be using prop guns for a shoot then let them know the time and date. But even if you are shooting indoors on private property, someone might see you carrying the guns to and from the shoot. The last thing you want is the swat team raiding your studio because the neighbors down the street saw you with scary guns and called the police. Besides many police officers have been through swat training and have military backgrounds, they might help you out by coaching you in the proper way to move and carry guns. You might even get some free actors when they are off duty.

As to the guns, adding weight to them will make them handle more realistically. Amazon has all kinds of lead weights in all shapes and sizes. If there are cavities in the guns you can hide the weights there. Don't over do it. It doesn't need to be the same weight as the real gun but having enough weight will make your actors flex their arm muscles while handling the gun rather than just waving a plastic gun around. Five minute epoxy can be used to glue the weights in place. Just dip the lead weight in the epoxy and then drop the weights inside the cavities or down the barrel and then lay the gun down for a few hours. The epoxy will glue the weight in place where ever it lands in the gun.

the handle and stock on a real M4 is plastic, not metal, so no scratches would show metal on them

Actually, the buttstock is the least scratched
Part of the firearm.
The magazine, magazine well, charging handle, bolt release and you piccotini rail are the most scratched parts of the firearm

this guy should add dirt onto it by getting dome fine dirt, mixing it with a small bit of PVA glue and using that sponge to scrape some dust or light amount sof dirt onto the gun.

The grips are polymer, not metal.
So no scratches. 😑

When painting on the scratches, use a brush instead, get some paint on it and brush it off on cardboard so its just the pigment left and just brush over it. The pigment will stick to the raised surfaces and crevises of the airsoft gun.

Yeah, I had silver spray paint, forgot what I bought it for, and I used it on so many things. Weathering and wear and tear was a huge thing I did with it. it is really some magic how much fun it is to play with silver spray paint

On AR Style rifles, the pistol grip and the vertical front grip shouldn't recive the silver paint treatment since they're actually made out of polymer
