I drove these around on a UK and European tour, back in 2014. Nice lads, and very hard working. They deserve the success they've had!

As an elder millennial, pop-punk - whether it be 90s Blink 182, MXPX, SUM 41, Yellowcard, Cartel, or Neckdeep etc. - will always have a special place in my heart. It’s just fun.

I’ll tell you why Justin: big hooks, good vibes, a marriage of two huge genres that historically tend to compete with each other.

For a lot of people that like classic rock, thrash metal, metalcore, punk. All of the rich and varied genres of rock music. Pop punk is the sub-genre that generates that triumphant, anthemic, party music for a significant chunk of this crowd. It’s a celebration of the wall of sound that full bands produce. It’s fun and easy to sing along to, like a lot of pop music, but with the stipulation that power chords and a full kit kick you through the song while you do.

Easily my favorite pop punk band. Their album Life's Not Out to Get You is amazing.

If I remember rightly their drummer (for those in the know) used to be their drum tech after Dani (original drummer) stepped down. So great to see he’s getting some of his own chops into the band now. What a step up for the lad!!!

I think a lot of the appeal is due to it having a very nostalgic sound for people who liked the early 2000's pop punk bands like Blink 182, Sum 41, Good Charlotte, etc. It has that same feel, and people haven't heard that sound for a while.

These guys used to rent a room next to me for a bit, they were never any trouble and Seb was particularly friendly and very pleasant to interact with. Marmite music indeed, but they're nice people from my experience, and apparently Wrexham's most successful music artists so far, maybe minus K-Klass, which funny enough again, it's their cold war nuclear bunker converted to music studio which we all reside(d) in hahaha.

I went into this casually expecting to hate it and was pleasantly surprised when I didn't. Now I am off to work on my internal bias, lol.

This band is holding the pop punk flag right now. Their new drummer is an absolute machine. Their previous drummer, Dani, was also incredible, but Powlesy is just something else. Seeing him perform live is quite something. He's so tuned in and precise. Magical.
Love your work, Mr. Hawkins.

I am so happy to see you react to Neck Deep! They are one of my favorite pop punk bands and are some of the coolest guys.

This is their first album since their original drummer left too. Their OG drummer Dani Washington brought alot more metal drumming to the band, double kicks galore

The godfathers of pop punk are the Descendents who formed in 1979 and dropped their massively influential album “Milo Goes to College” in 1981 and came up with bands like Black Flag. And even though they’re my favorite punk band, I would argue that The Ramones chronologically probably have them beat for adding a sense of pop melody to punk music. So my point is, you’re not too old for pop punk. It’s been around since the late 70s, even if the name “pop punk” didn’t exist yet.

Pop punk is musically polished and catchy but has more to say lyrically (usually) than most modern pop. I love it.

Watch a lot of your videos and your ability to hear a tune and process it into guitar is really brilliant. You have such a vast knowledge of music and are such a talented man! Keep up the great vids.

It's definitely fun music. It's not creative or interesting musically - but that's not their goal. They're reproducing an extremely predictable and formulaic kind of music, and their execution of that is great.

Reminiscent of New Found Glory circa 2002 - my inner 14 year old loves this!!! Fast paced and energetic with high pitched whiny vocals for ease of singing along. Incredibly satisfying.

The lead singer Ben Barlow shops in the big Tesco I work at 😂

Totally right about a great drummer elevating this sort of music from blah to good.
