Copper to Silver to Gold: The Penny Alchemy Demo

This brief, jittery video shows the experimental set up for making a copper penny appear silver or golden. In the first step, a thin layer of zinc metal i plated around the copper (pre-1983) US penny. In the second step, the zinc-plated penny is heated such that the zinc diffuses into the copper to form brass, an alloy with a golden color.
