Million Dollar Man was, IMHO, the best heel that the WWF/WWE ever produced. DiBiase had the ability to portray the character in every aspect - great in-ring techincal ability, superb cutting promos/interviews, THAT laugh, etc. Just cannot imagine him as anything but heel.

Mr. Perfect was a close second to MDM as heel for all the same reasons.

Some wrestlers are such natural heels, that as a fan you don't even think about the wrestler being or getting a face character.

The only reason to turn babyface would have been if he started getting babyface reactions from the crowd. Alot of top heels that are around on top a long time like him can start to get a babyface reaction. Or else they need to be turned face to give them fresh opponents.
But Ted was one of those really rare heels who could stay over as a heel just about forever. Alot of heels have a rise, get into the main event program, lose and then fall down the card until they are got rid of. But no matter what happened with Ted in the ring, he retained his heel heat with the crowd.

Hard to be a babyface with that character. You would have to be a philantropist. And you would definitely get booed for that.

If anything you would need a bigger heel to turn, like Luger and Yoko.

Hard to be a face as the Million Dollar Man character. Maybe if they had a storyline where he lost all his money and hit rock bottom. Have him appreciate the value of hard work and earning a living.

I don't think the million dollar man Ted Dibiase as a babyface would had worked.

Just like seeing JBL as a face, The Million Dollar Man being a fan favorite wouldn't work.
Do you guys think the Million Dollar Man character would work as a babyface?

The only way you really could've made DiBiase a face in WWF is if you turned the fans heel. Have DiBiase taunting and picking on a babyface that everybody absolutely hated, Then DiBiase can still do all his heel shit and the fans would be cheering for him. Then make the WWF management (Tunney at the time) against him by having Ted do something like bribing jobbers to intentionally lay down and let him pin them (so he doesn't have to break a sweat)

I always felt that one of the only ways to turn MDM face was for Money Inc. to have a falling out, with IRS turning on Ted over back-taxes etc. Something on those lines. But that would never happen. The reason Money Inc. worked so well, and still work well together, is that both characters are completely irredeemable.

Come on Ted! We all know that wouldn’t have worked

Maybe if he did the come to jesus thing and started donating his money to charities and u could have him giving out money to families each show.. at big pay per view events he could give everyone at the show free popcorn or something.. and he would have had to wear an all white suit instead of the black and or green ones he had..n probably lose virgil as his valee and get a miss Elizabeth type valee ..it wouldn't have been easy but ted could have done it ..

Of course he could have been a babyface, but in a different era when cheering heels was cool. He could have been a face if he was wrestling during the Attitude era.
