Sweet friends, we're proud to announce the release of our newest single "Better Angels", a brand new song from the Bluegrass half of our upcoming double album Beacons! This is a big one for us folks, and if you've known us through the years you'll know that we've always sought to bring unity, acceptance and love to this divided and troubled world, especially in the darkest of times. That aim is proving harder and harder for us though as the days roll on, as our default nowadays seems to be anger, hate, division, fighting, war.. and the list goes on.
We try our best to stick to our lane as musicians, stay out of politics, refrain from choosing sides in the endless debates of today, and as much as we'd love to always crank up the amps, jam for hours and boldy celebrate life, there are times where we feel that we must just have to be ourselves as well; vulnerable, pained, endlessly frustrated, and at times broken hearted.. just like you.
Better Angles is our newest offering; A hope for a different path where we remember that every person on the other side of the argument, aisle, and screen is another human being. That we ALL go through these days with a giant pit in our stomachs. That despite what the entire world seems to be telling us, we do have a choice.. and we can always choose love and light over darkness and hate.
We want to thank this beautiful cast of people and friends, old and new! We could not have made this video without all of you and we will always be grateful to each of you.
With love,
Doni & Eric

When the canyon moon is riding high
And the wooded whispers begin
When the levees break along with the tide
And the only path is sin
You can’t fight the current all alone
Or just take a paddle for your canoe
This time it’s not just sticks and stones
So I’m coming along with you
There’s a higher road just up the hill
But none of us could hear the call
It’s not a sirens song or fire drill
It’s a warning for us all
We’re only strangers
who’ve yet to be friends
We’ll be in pain til
We can to make amends
These stubborn stains will
Come out in the end
Oh, Better Angels
Unite us all again
She brought the kids to the river bank
Took shelter by a mighty oak
She dried their eyes as her heart sank
And wished it all was but a joke
She said son and daughter listen well
Don’t you take all words to heart
We have to play the cards we’re dealt
Been that way from the start
They listened as the waters told
Stories of when good prevailed
When the sky sent down streams of gold
She knew their ship had yet to sail
We’re only strangers
who’ve yet to be friends
We’ll be in pain til
We can to make amends
These stubborn stains will
Come out in the end
Oh, Better Angels
Unite us all again
Come all you roving cowboys
Toss another chip into the flames
We can build back what we’ve destroyed
And be a beacon in the game
We can learn to see in each others eyes
And breathe without bated breath
Must we all choose our own disguise
Between Lincoln and Macbeth
We can feed the lion and the dove
Be messengers from the mountain top
But if it doesn't start with Love
Who knows when it’ll stop
We’re only strangers
who’ve yet to be friends
We’ll be in pain til
We can to make amends
These stubborn stains will
Come out in the end
Oh, Better Angels
Unite us all again
