I have a C-352 and despite owning more prestigious amps this still sees regular use. NAD's of this era are so easy to live with.

I have similar opinions to you about the C356BEE. I have it hooked up to a pair of Q150's with a Thorens TT. The sound is incredible and it is my daily driver with my TV. The kef uni q series pairs up really nice with this.

This is really nice amp. I have one for 2 years and I love how it sounds. Recently I bought a pair of Focal Aria 906 K2 and the match is just great.

I had the C326BEE with Elac BS184 speakers, replaced the amp with the C368. So like you NAD and Elac my favorite brands.

Great review! I remember back then you also had a sugden amp and noticed you have moved away from it. Did you prefer the NAD & Audiolab over the Sugden?

Mine worked flawless for 5 years and 2 months until the remote did not work (right after the extended warranty was over) The infrared receiver died all over sudden. Does anyyone know what a fix will cost approx. and which part needs to be exchanged.? Other than that it is a beautiful amp, though now I run a rega in my first set up for the right portion of PRAT. Thx for any advice on the defect which a bunch of 356 users seem to experience.

The price had been 799 in its later years if I remember well. Used unbeatable for its price.

I reckon it sounds better with the "tone defeat" on. I got the NAD BEE and the Audiolab 6000A! Got two good amps that are too good! 😅

You could have downloaded the schematic of the NAD to find out that it is nothing special (in fact, it is a poor design with some good features). If you want a proper class-AB amp, just go for Yamaha. Other than that, you very quickly arrive in Audiophoolery. If nothing else, look in the PA section or go fully inwards DIY PASS or class-D like Hypex. All those < 200W class-AB are about the same, give or take on the power supply - the rest is design foolery.
