I love the feeling of Battlefield 3's soldiers with Battlefield 4's weapons.
I also hope they bring back first person knife melee animations

“Most ambitious project in EA history” - what they said about 2042

I was 15 when BF3 came out, some of my peak gaming years

Am I too badly burned by EA & DICE over promising and then under-delivering? Blatantly lying on multiple occasions? Ultra-scummy micro-transactions? And obvious trend chasing? Yes, evidently lol.

Do I still desperately hope that DICE stops shooting itself in the foot for one second, and actually makes a game that reminds me of one of my childhood favourite game franchises? Yes, obviously

My wishlist for the next Battlefield.

- BF3 style maps
- BF4 gunplay
- BF1 immersion
- Hardcore day one
- Scoreboard
- bf3/bf4 music style
- Maps should be design for mode specifics
- 5 Man squads
- More believable customization for a millitary setting.
- Class locked weapons
- Server browser
- Input based matchmaking. In server browser it should display only servers with the input you locked it in the settings.

- Less AI
- Movement speed like bf3/bf4
- Full blown destruction with some levolution
- Sniper glint tone down a lot. Not being a literal flashlight... and or at 800m+ no glint.
- Plus system from 2042. I think it's nice to switch attachment in the moment.
- Medic and ammo station on the map.
- Fortification system like on bfv.
- Squad Call-ins (bfv)
- A modified attrition system for vehicules. Ground vehicules/Boats, should have unlimited machine gun ammos but missiles, shells etc should be restrocked. Jets/Heli should have full attrition excepted blackhawks or alternative for nation specifics with unlimited ammo
- K&m support for consoles
- Team balancer between matches.
- new content every 3 to 4 months (guns/maps)

Ultimately, A finished product before release.

Let's hope it has more than 17 guns at launch. BF4 had 100+

And hopefully they bring back leaning around corners too for this game, it another element that just really tied it all together

Remember: This is the game Andrew Wilson described as "a tremendous live service"

Community features from BF3/4 would win me over instantly, such as dedicated servers, all chat enabled by default, and something like battlelog.

God please no extraction mode, straight up fuck battle royale and extraction shooters, I absolutely hate that shit I just want a solid multiplayer experience in team v team modes

We just want another BF3/4 style game not lazy slop that has been released after Battlefield 1.

Battlefield 1 was the last battlefield I played. I don’t think any battlefield game will ever come close to that feeling of having that much fun again.

All I want is a badass faceless soldier exactly like bf4. Maybe customize the camos and equipment but literally that’s it. No crazy skins

Firestorm played so well, I just wish looting had been better and that they hadn't dropped the mode :(

I think it's hard to get excited about anything now. Even if the game has a good launch, then you gotta worry about how the game is handled post launch like 3 months after

One thing that I feel that is overlooked in all of this is that BATTLEFIELD games became increasingly confusing after BF4. The controls, changing modes (that sometimes weren't even permanent), the events-to-earn-weapons progression system (which was annoying and confusing) as well as the "must-play-this-way" made it easy for advanced players and difficult for casual players to enjoy the game. New and casual players just felt....overwhelmed. That wasn't the case with BF3 and BF4. Players could join and really enjoy themselves even if they were noobs.

That whole quote of "The peak of the franchise was BF3 and BF4 era, where everything was modern." looks great at first, but I get the feeling they legit only think those games worked because of the setting, and not what they did as games. I have extremely low hope this will be a good BF title after 2042, but who knows.
If they, at the very least, focus on a strong destruction system, I think that alone would get a lot of people into the game, as there are not a whole lot of shooters that have dynamic destruction to the scale/quality of classic BF. Its always been a major selling point for me personally. Of course, the core game needs to be good too. The return of classes is a good start, so long as they don't get them all mixed up, like in 2042.
