I had never heard about Ernie Davis until tonight when I watched “The Express.” What I got from the movie is he was a superstar in every aspect of his life, humble and all round good guy. Maybe Rest In Peace. From Australia.

I came here after watching The Express and Ernie Davis is indeed a best player. Sadly his life came to an end early even before he can play on Professional League. RIP Mr. Ernie Davis 💐

Jim Brown wrote a book that I read as a kid. called Off My Chest . He devoted a chapter to Ernie Davis- I read a lot of books, but I'll always remember that one and that chapter. Shame not to see them on the same field.

Such a powerful story. Very cool, too, that Tommy Hilfiger (from the same town as Davis) uses the number 44 in his clothing line as a reminder of the greatness of Davis, Brown and Little.

"The Heisman trophy is Not won it is. Awarded"! Ernie Davis was before my time, but from what I've seen & read he was a true HUMAN BEING not just a tip top RB! RIP Ernie!

It's not all about race man . Ernie was a legend on his own merit , regardless of race period . Damn, imagine if he had played for the Browns, with Jim Brown in the same backfield....

The first African American to win the Heisman trophy played running back for SU.  His story is tragic passing away at such a young age but what I like about Ernie the most is that he never complained or asked why me?  His talent is obvious when seeing some of the old highlights of him playing.  He has a grace when he runs and looks to be as big as some of the linebackers chasing him.

I recently read one of jim browns books, and at the end he had a chapter for ernie. It was incredibly sad detailing alot of the little details about what ernie was dealing with when he had leukemia, and how his body had a remission. He was powerful man and did not pity himself and did not seek pity from others, he had hope he would win. The first football movie i watched as a kid was the express and i really looked up to ernie, my dream was to be a nfl runningback lol. Im thankful to be one of the few left in the world that truly know the greatness on and off the field of Ernest R. Davis. Rip legend you are gone but you will never be forgotten
