Gayle, talking about our wretched grandbabies growing up on us...I was talking to my daughter-in-law in August as the kids wee getting ready to go back to school. She said something about my son Jason having taken grandson Derek's senior photos when they'd gone to Colorado on vacation in early August. I said, "Derek is NOT a senior! She said, "Yes, he is!" he's not!! I won't allow it!" But he is, and they're visiting colleges, and senior photos and all that kind of thing. Our boys aren't specifically athletic - they have both played various sports over the years, but Derek especially has a terrific acting talent. He's got the lead in the senior play and Jared, who is a sophomore, is in an important part of the cast as well. Derek's current plan for his future is forensic science, but he's changed his mind about a half dozen times in the past couple of years so that none of us are very well convinced that's what he'll end up doing. Jared has been an engineer from birth, almost. :) My best friend, who is the daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother of engineers, and I are convinced it's in the blood. Given Jared's gift for all things numerical and building related, has definitely got the gene. His dad, his grandfather and great-grandfather all have or had the same talents.
