I visited Auckland (and parts of the rest of New Zealand) in 1983 and 1997. Thanks for the video. New Zealand has to be one of the best tourist destinations on the planet. The scenery is breath-taking.

One of the historic running clubs on the planet is in Auckland - The Auckland Joggers. I ran through the streets and in the parks with them a few times. Delightful people. Thanks for the look at New Zealand.

Thankyou Phoebe, this is fantastic.. I was going to avoid Auckland completely because it was just another big city. But those West Auckland beaches are so rustic. And then after a google search, it shows Auckland has over 80 beaches. As a beach/bush person, I'm in !

I used this video to plan our recent trip to Auckland and I have to tell everyone—her recommendations are spot on!! Cordis is an amazing hotel. The beds are perfect (wanted to steal it!). They have an hourly shuttle from the hotel to the CBD (corner of Queen Street and Customs Street). Eight Restaurant is fantastic for breakfast (those Fern Waffles!) and dinner. Also, we spent a few hours at the All Blacks Experience and the Weta Unleashed and cannot recommend them enough. The Haka presentations were incredible (they now do the women’s Haka too!) and anyone interested in movies must do Weta (she’s right—you don’t need to be a LOTR fan, but it helps). If you’re planning an Auckland trip, stay at Cordis! There’s lots to do at the resort, there are plenty of small family-type restaurants right nearby on Queens Street, and there’s a convenience store conveniently less than a block away (be sure to get those NZ snacks—like anything by Whittakers chocolate!) Thanks, again, Phoebe—you guided us well on our bucket-list trip and we are forever grateful!
