Kris Mahin, so good to hear from you! :D I've been doing the song since 1967, when I had the first Canned Heat album, the orange cover. I have had a lifelong relationship with Canned Heat, at least till 2006, when my band the Workers and the Heat were co-headliners at a festival in Springfield, Nebraska. It rained and sleeted cats and dogs, almost everyone went home except for 100 or so that stayed to hear us and Canned Heat inside (this is the Soaring Wings Winery), and after 39 years I got to play with Canned Heat, even though only one original member, Fito de la Parra, the drummer, was still there, and was the leader. He even gave me a joint when we parted the next day!

The Mole (Larry Taylor), the Sunflower (Henry Vestine, who was my roommate for several months and was part of my own band in Eugene, OR back in 1985-6), the Bear, and the Blind Owl (whose father, a mason in Belmont MA, I serviced at a masonry supply firm in 1974) are all gone; only Fito is carrying on. I may have to play this immortal Al Wilson song tonight at my gig at Red's.

The Blues is all right, if there's someone left to play the game (2x)
