Hello Dan,
I am filing an LLC in Orange County. The part that is confusing me is this in the rules;

"In the case of a corporation, limited liability company or limited partnership, a fictitious business name is any name other than the exact name that is on record with the Secretary of State's Office."

My legal name is not in the business I applied for at the Sec of State filing which is completed. So, do the rules mean I just make something up but, it has to have my full legal name in it??? and my business name from the secretary of state EXample: Jane Doe's Cleaning service ?
I have called the county clerk's office with questions and they have been helpful but, since I found your tutorial, I thought I would reach out.
Thanks so much for the tutorial

Hi Dan thank you for your info..
Im filling out the application for the DBA as a sole proprietor and I don't see an option for that..
I saw in your vid you chose "Corporation"
There is a choice for "individual "
I would appreciate your help

Hi Dan, thanks so much for sharing this! Super helpful!!! Before finalizing my DBA name and deciding to file the DBA, earlier this year, I paid for the domain and web hosting and bought some office supplies and equipment, but haven't conducted any "normal" business activities and don't have any business income yet. Should I check the box for "Have you started doing business"? Thank you in advance for your help!!!

Hi Dan,
Thanks for the video, unfortunately right now due to covid 19 they only offer mail service for FBN. My question once I fill the forms and I sign it do I need to sign it infront if notary public?! Also once I mail the paper with the fees do I have to wait on mail back from the county in order to call a newspaper to publish it ?! Or i can call the news paper to publish my business name as soon i mail the paper work to the county?!
Again thank you i appreciate your efforts 🙏.

I have combed through my local newspaper and noted that all the FBN notices appear to be for local "brick and mortar" businesses like hair salons, auto repair, etc.

So, it is not clear to me, are FBN's required for internet webstores that sell intangible products like eBooks and exist entirely "in the cloud"? Is the website name necessarily a business name or is it just a WEBSITE name? What is the location of that intangible "business"?

Hi Dan do you recommend using Legal Zoom for this? When do I get the EIN number to open the business bank account?

Hi Dan! Thank you for this video. I'm using a UPS mailbox (the mailbox has an actual physical street address) as my LLC address to avoid the public finding out where I personally live. I noticed that during the FBN process it asks for business and mailing address. Is it okay to put my mailbox address or would I have to put something else? Thank you!

Hello! On the form for Orange County- there it says “Print name and title of office/manager or General Partner”- is that required if one is an individual only? I signed for “Registrant” . But I wasn’t sure about that section- can it just be myself as well? Or can leave blank? Thank you!
