Tom Welling has been kinda quiet in Hollywood since his gig as Clark Kent on the CW's Smallville ended in 2011. Although he was the original superhero on a network that's since become known for its comic book shows, Welling has yet to capitalize on the show's success to push into the next stage of his acting career. This is a poor and pointless video. He said in the past that he was way overworked from shooting Smallville for 17 hours a day for ten consecutive years. He said he doesn't want to do something because he "has to" but only if he wants to. Michael Rosenbaum also said that while he usually used to be on set for 4/5 days on average on a 10 day shooting schedule, Tom instead was the only one who was always on set 9 days out of 10.
So he acted for 10 consecutive years, 9 and a half months a year, he acted basically at every hour of the day. And he doesn't have to do anything for money, clearly. It's not that "Hollywood won't cast him anymore", he has actually rejected roles.

Tom Welling was fantastically casted in Smallville. He has the body of a Greek god needed for the role of young Clark Kent. I read on his face the good sense from the countryside, barely tainted by a certain naivety. Yet, far from looking like a fop without substance, his screen presence is imbued by the solemn air characteristic to super heroes. Assuredly, it's going to be difficult for him to find a role as finely tailored as this one.
