Glad to see this method would work. I use the water method for so many plants. I've used this method to make plants from a bouquet of roses too. I have a leggy jade plant I'm trying to save and didn't want to touch the stalks for fear of it dying. So gonna use this to make some new plants from those pieces.

I need help! My mom passed away a little over a year ago and we’re just now selling her house. I’m trying to propagate pieces of her almost 50 yr old jade plant! She received the plant when my brother was born and he has also passed - so it’s very important to me that I continue growing this plant. I feel like it’s the only living piece of my late brother and parents. There were some pest problems in the kitchen so I didn’t want to bring the whole plant home. I took a bunch of clippings and bought a bunch of supplies so I could try to grow each clipping separately to give myself the best chance of success with at least one of them. The plant was neglected for a while so it wasn’t in the best condition to begin with. I have them sitting off to the side so they could scab over where they were clipped. The leaves are droopy and any new growth that was coming out from the nodes has now dried up😢 there’s so much conflicting information out there that I’m not sure how to proceed! Some videos say to propagate in a glass of water, and some say it will certainly rot in a glass of water. Some say to put it directly in pearlite while others say to use soil. And some say to use rooting hormone and others say it’s not needed. There’s also conflicting information as to whether or not to water it immediately. Since it was already neglected when I took the clippings, I fear it may desperately need some water since it’s been so long and the leaves are already drooping. I’m very tempted to try and go back to my mom’s to un-pot it and take the remainder of the plant bare, without the soil, and repot it, instead of taking a chance on propagation. I hope someone can please help me and provide some advice! 😰
