Chinese New Year otherwise known as Lunar New Year is a special time with a lot of deeper meanings. This year is cool because it is the year of the Dragon, and Dragons are awesome.

There's a Chinese myth about how each animal got it's place for the years by participating in a race. The rat needs to cross the river and makes a deal with the ox to carry him across, so maybe you are just the part where the rat and ox joined forces.

My older brother was born in the Year of the Snake, and I was rabbit.

Snakes eat rabbits.

In traditional Chinese they follow a lunar calendar where the new year starts on CNY where the zodiac will switch to the next animal. The first Chinese friend follows the above mentioned calendar and the second follows the general calendar

You aren’t an Ox or a Rat

You’re clearly a unicorn

My main take away from this is that we share a birthday.

I can agree with you because my parents told me I was a dragon growing up and the dang website said I was a rabbit and I told my mom and she said "Well you are in the year of the dragon so you are a dragon." And then my dad said "Well you were born early in the year, so you are a rabbit." and I was just so confused after that.😢😢😨

In Chinese zodiac, there is also a thing called Bazi chart, where there are 4 Pillars that includes Hour, Day, Month and Year (Hour does not have to be added) and it shows that you are, day of the tiger, month of the ox and year of the rat.

It is apparently ambiguous whether I am a rooster or a monkey. So, I combine them into the flying monkey.

It depends on the lunar calendar, obviously

Lmao, as a Chinese person who has a father who was born on the year of the sheep but is actually a horse and a mother who is a sheep(they were born on the same year, just 10 days apart!) the reason some are different is because of Chinese New Year, if you are born before CNY then you are counted as the zodiac before!

An example is my friend who is born on January 5, I (March 13) am a ox, while she is a rat!

Hope this helps !

This is exactly how I feel about my regular zodiac. Some sites say I’m one thing, some sites say I’m the other. I always just tell people that I’m on the cusp of both signs.
