Expanding Access to Renewable Energy – Customizing for Higher Education
Aired Weds, March 22, 2017 from 2:30-3:30 pm ET
American colleges and universities are well-suited to utilize renewable energy, but many renewable energy projects are larger than needed by most campuses, and often require commitments of 15-20 years. Multi-institution collaborations have proven to be complicated and difficult to replicate. As a result, many interested institutions have yet to participate in larger renewable energy initiatives. This webinar will focus on a power purchase agreement (PPA) that specifically addresses these barriers. Altenex, an Edison Energy Company and a supporter of Second Nature, has developed an innovative, new PPA structure called PowerBloks™. PowerBloks allow colleges and universities to benefit from the favorable economics of large-scale projects in increments of 10 megawatts (MW) for contracts of just ten years in duration – smaller and shorter PPAs than have previously been available.
