Intelligence was the way to go. Was a marine analyst who deployed on the Roosevelt. After seeing the navy rates from the outside looking in, intel was the cushiest, easiest, and provided a great transitioning opportunity.

This is a good list. Lots of STEM type jobs or jobs that require an in demand skill set. Blue collar jobs make the world run smoothly.

Going in as an EM and it's nice to see my rate get mentioned.

I had the best job at the end of my enlistment - librarian. That space that contained the confidential manuals had a computer for playing games, mini-fridge to keep drinks cold, our music playing all day, and NO watches. It was the number one skate job one could get in all of Rx dept. Each IT tech center took turns sending a body there and they usually sent their slugs to the library to be rid of them. When our turn came I decided to go my self as a reward :)

Something I think you could cover about the navy is: how many college credits you get in boot camp and A school. Maybe also how they go towards someone getting an associates or bachelors.

I was an O.S. nothing much for us to do in port but they made us stay until 4:00 every day. I learned how to look busy when I had nothing to do.

I was a career sailor, 22 years. The first 12 years I was an AD. I failed my hearing tests and was told I couldn't work on the flight line any longer. I changed rate to MA and finished out my career and was eventually retired for disability. Went to work in civilian law enforcement with a 6 figure salary.

I left the Navy in 1976 as an ETN5 . I retired from a civilian job as a Superintendent in 2013 with a 6-figure income. Of course, my original Navy training was supplemented with additional education training an experience.

good video.... I was an ET in the Navy served 6 years and on ny ship the command sent me to C school for fiber optics repair.... I got out and immediately got a job as a SONET engineer... learned more about networks and gained my CCNA... lets just say it went up from there... currently working as network security engineer...

I was an MA on a carrier for 4 years, long story short...I hated the job and leadership. The only thing I miss was hanging out with my friends. Other than that I do not regret leaving the Navy.

Best job in the Communications Electrician. Personally, I served as an IC man from 1967 to 1971. Best job because you're not stuck in one part of the ship. The whole ship is your turf. Never a dull moment. I understand today's Navy still has the same rate, probably more high tech, but still the same deal.
