I made and rode a board like this in about 1985. It was 5'10" X 20 with an 18" tail. Wing swallow tail with a slightly concave deck. Similar outline with wide-point forward. But my board had two keel-fins in the back - all fins aimed at the nose. It was a really fun board in Southern California (I've grown up surfing on Oahu - making boards since I was 14). Now I "surf" on self-designed kiteboards. No battling for take-off position, and never a drop-in to spoil my ride. Just endless "bottom-turns" and "cut-backs, " the entire session long.

I got this beat up 5’8” quad I got from a guy for free who didn’t really know how to surf. Fixed it up and it’s one of my go to magic boards. Everyone should have a quad like that in their quiver.
