My buddy who was into drag racing took me to one outside Houston 30+ years ago. I was standing close to the start when the first blown fueler (probably a funny car) took off. I had my hands over my ears, but I think every organ in my body was in sync with the gargantuan pulsing sound that thing made. Had it not left the scene so quickly, I am sure it would have shaken me to pieces from the inside out. Nothing in my experience anything else like it.
