🌿 Rejuvenation pruning is a way of cutting back neglected and overgrown shrubs. One plant that responds well to this type of pruning is the red twig dogwood (Cornus sericea). It’s easy to tell when these bushes have been ignored because their radiant red stems turn woody and gray.

Red twig dogwoods are not the only landscape shrub that responds well to rejuvenation. Spirea, lilac, privet, viburnum, weigela, and forsythia will also benefit from this method.

In this video, get the Know How on two different methods of rejuvenation pruning to bring your ornamental shrubs back to life.

Good video, but a long shot of what it looked like when you cut back all, and a long shot of how it looked when it grew out….would have been incredibly handy visual.

Hello and great video on your cornus, i was wondering if you have any tips on pruning Davids viburnum, i have a 4×9M bed of it and it's all long, woody and spindly with some new stringy shoots about 1M high struggling to get some light, i have hard pruned some of it and wondered if i should do the whole lot ( renovation/rejuvenate) prune.
Thank you
Stuart from scotland 🙂

My red branch dogwood is overgrown. I'm able to work on my flower gardens this week. Is it ok to take the branches down as low as I can in the late fall or do I need to wait until February?
