Prep For FJR1300 STS System Installation - The pre-purchasers all got our PDF instructions today for the STS automatic turn signal cancellation system that is now supposed to ship in a few weeks. Unfortunately it's not an easy or plug-n-play install, requiring various degrees of disassembly and modification depending on the bike model. I'll be installing it to my Gen III 2014 Yamaha FJR1300ES and spent a good couple hours today figuring out exactly what needed to be done from the sparse generic instruction set. In the end, it's going to be a 1-2 hour job for the average Joe. There are still things that I will not have answers to until the physical unit arrives but I can make it work no matter how it comes now. The big question is, will the general public accept it as a $170 product with such an elaborate install needed? That might just depend on the results. Stay tuned in the next month or so for the review.

My other ride is a gold wing with self canceling signals. Love em on the GW. I'm so used to scs on my GW and always forget to turn them off on the FJR lol.

Hello Mr T-W-O! I have a ST2 version- of STS. I can follow the turn leads into the bike under the windscreen from the handlebar. I think I need a wiring diagram? to figure out the three wires to cut, and figure out where the Hazard light relay is for power. I dont own any manuals for this bike. Can i just probe at the handle bar to get the wire colors? Any help is much appreciated.

My Vstar 1300 deluxe has the self canceling turn signals, and I do love the system. I don't blame you for wanting them. My only gripe, at 170 dollars ....ill just cancel them myself.. Problem solved.

I have self cancelling indicators on my Harley and tbh they are a PITA, always cancelling too early on a roundabout or staying on for too long at other times. I spend more time checking if they are behaving than I would doing a manual cancel as part of my turn routine.

Hi did you ever install the STS on your 2014 fjr1300? I just bought a 2014 fjr1300A red which came with a uninstalled STS. Thinking on installing it. Bob

Everything you said was correct except that there is no white/brown wire. You use the white/black wire instead.

Funny that Yamaha had them for many years. My 84 FJ1100 has them and they still work perfectly. 84!

I wonder if putting it in the glovebox might work out well. I don't really use my glovebox for anything.

followed your excellent videos for a while now. fj, s gearbox seems to be getting clunkier or is it just the way the mic is picking it up. Just put a new chain on my 1981 Suzuki gs550 and it made the gear change a whole lot better. Still have to blip throttle on downshift to be clunk free, but it is 35 years old:-)
