EUROPEAN RAILWAYS of the 1990s
Pinhal Novo Station (Portugal CP) on 24th March 1998
Estação Ferroviária Pinhal Novo
A few miles out of Barreiro we come to the busy station of Pinhal Novo. A beautiful station with a wonderful signalbox. The footbridge offers a great vantage point, but I remained on the platform. A little shop on the opposite platform sold a well needed ice cream (Yes even in March). A lot of both freight and passenger services were caught on film, and a superb shot of an empty car train probably heading for a nearby car manufacturer's and returning with cars on board, probably again heading for export from the port of Sines. Hopefully some kind viewer will enlighten me with this information as at the time of recording I was not aware of this traffic. A few other long freight trains were seen as well as the aluminium bodied diesel units on the more local trains. I hope this series will appeal to the European enthusiast as well as the BR enthusiasts and again feel free to comment on any material or subscribe to the channel to help support it's growing popularity. It may not always be possible to answer every comment or question, especially if it is not in English, but every comment is read and greatly appreciated. I do hope this video entertains and evokes old fond memories of the European Railway Scene of the era. I hope you are enjoying the series, and if you are familiar with the areas featured, feel free to comment and if you do like the clip please subscribe and Like.
