The German word "Fernweh" describes the feeling of missing places you have never been to.
It is the opposite of homesickness because you don't long for home but for unknown lands and you feel the urge to pack your bags and just walk far, far away. It is the kind of feeling you get when you look into a sunset over a calm sea when you feel a warm breeze in your hair and you know that you are young and free and that there is still so much to discover.
It is a feeling I experience quite often but sadly there is no translation for "Fernweh" in any language.
But maybe we don't need a translation because this song translates it well enough into a language we all speak.
