OVERHEAD PIPE FENCE ENTRANCE INSTALL DAY - STAND ER UP!

Today we are standing up and installing (setting in concrete) the pipe fence overhead entrance on this new big fence build. This is the biggest post fence build we have done yet and the entrance to the place doesn’t disappoint! Come along as we stand ‘er up and start setting the post. I learned years ago to stick a 2x4 in the hole for whatever I’m standing up to slide against instead of the dirt to help it stand up with less resistance.

Put a board in the hole for the pipe to slide down, , , , makes setting poles easier

Start the holes the day before add some water and drill next day. That little bit of prep saves so much time. Holes can be started by hand if needed. Helps so much in the summer when the ground I'd dry and compacted

If that type of work is going to be a lot of what your doing an older digger/derrick truck might be a good investment, it would give you an auger for digging holes and a crane for setting entrances.

Just wanted to say I love your idea of electric fence wire. I’ve built a lot of fence and getting the line tighten up over long runs is difficult. Definitely gonna use that next time. I was taught to never let the fence touch the string so we always set our string 3/4 of an inch off of where we wanted to run and just used a little three-quarter inch block of wood to get our measurement for straight. I know it’s just a fence but if each post pushes the string over 1/8 of an inch on a long run pretty soon you’re a couple inches off.

Make a jib pole that your pallet forks will fit into. You won’t use it often but it’s a life saver when you do.
