Whitney, Celine, and Mariah are like the holy trinity of impossibly hard songs to sing.

It's not that Mariah can hit the high notes, it's that she can make them sound rich and full bodied. I can squeak, anyone can, but she creates magic.

I'm old enough to remember when Mariah Carey's "Vision of Love" first came out -- everybody was completely blown away. So for me, that's the one I always think of first when I hear her name. One of the most amazing debuts I'd ever heard.

Never heard anyone replicate Minnie Rippertons perfect whistle tones. She the queen.

Beyonce's "Love On Top" is far more difficult than "Listen."

Mariah Carey definitely number 1. Her voice is out of this world. The agility, the ease, the resonance, the MULTITASKING!

I'm a mezzo-soprano and it is easier for me to reach high and low notes because of being in the middle but I get surprised everytime I hear Mariah Carey because she can reach lower notes than me being a soprano and, at the same time, she reaches those highs, her vocal range is huge!!!

Minnie Riperton's voice was amazing. Thank you for highlighting her in this video.

"I Have Nothing" by Whitney Houston (in her key and that modulation in the final chorus) has to be one of the most difficult songs for women to sing. When "I Have Nothing" debuted in 1993, Alan Jones from Music Week described it as "an emotionally charged rollercoaster of a song". Indeed.

Mariah is truly a legend. Always imitated, never duplicated.

Mariah all the way! She had the most difficult song to sing. She’s a good songwriter and one of the greatest vocalist in industry. A legend 💯

“And I’m Telling You” is way harder than “Don’t Rain On My Parade” especially because the song is for a powerful, soulful voice specifically.

Minnie Riperton, a jewel that got lost to soon. Can only imagine what she could do in concert! And I also believe LP should be on that list!

The fact that Christina Aguilera was not mentioned here, while Adele was, means that whoever made this video has no clue about true vocalists!
No one can beat Xtina in her own songs, while she perfectly did many covers of other great vocalists, and Whitney Houston herself told Xtina in a music awards that she is the best one who covered her songs.

Mariah Carey being #1 as she should! It’s not just that she masters the whistle register but it’s the fact that her range is so vast, her lows are so full and rich while her tone, transitions, agility and musicality are so utterly impeccable. That woman is an absolute wonder and she deserves a hell of a lot more recognition these days for the immense talent that she is. Also her catalogue could easily fill this entire list, hell it could fill a list of 100 most difficult songs.

I agree with most picks. “Emotions” by Mariah Carey is definitely the hardest song to do well. Often imitated. NEVER duplicated.

What an ecstatic discovery that my favorite singer, Minnie Riperton, was featured. She was amazing and should be recognized more often. Thanks to whomever created this video. R.I.P. Minnie
