We discussed the main points of the Object Relations Theory, followed by a case study.

The Object Relations Theory is a modern psychodynamic concept created collectively by various psychoanalysts, most notably Melanie Klein and Donald Winnicott. The theory places emphasis on how our relationship with our early caregivers creates a bedrock for our relationships later in life.

Thank you so much, I have read it in my textbook, attended the class lecture on it, and reviewed my professor's PowerPoint over and over. Because of you I FINALLY feel like I understand. It might be the culmination of all the studying but this is where the lightbulb lit

I'm studying for my licensing exam and this video finally helped me to understand the fundamentals of Object Relations Therapy. If only you had more videos for the other psychological theories!

If you don’t “gravitate” toward the familiar is possible you “create” the familiar? Like if in the example he had a good loving partner he felt anxious so he took steps to change the dynamic between the two of them to make it more familiar for him?

Thank you. This is certainly good enough. I have had trouble understanding the concept 'object' in this context.

I hope to see more good enough videos from this channel.

Thank you so much for this well-explained video. I could not wrap my mind around Object Relations theory in relation to the enneagram. This is helping me to understand it better along with its implications. Thanks so much!

So that would explain the rigid and strict way we interact with people-we, love people, but we hate some kind of people, although there is no real reason for it.

I have been reviewing key psychodynamic theories and for some reason, this one just doesn't I know this theory turns the single person psychology into a 2 person psychology focusing on relationships with "objects". But how does this differ from attachment theory? also, is the depressed position and paranoid schitzoid related to this? Thank!
