Phillips is one of two mostly used Kreuzschlitzschraubendreher heads. The other one is Pozidriv which is often used for Woodscrews. Pozidriv Screws have a little extra cross imbossed on the top. On the tool it is labled as PH and PZ. Also the Size matters a lot.

There is a difference between a Phillips and a Kreuzschlitz. Philips have a profile that goes not as deep into the screw and the profile gets fatter as you go up further. With a Philips screw combined you cant damage the screwhead because the screwdriver automatically jumps out when there is enough pressure.

That said Philipsscrews aren’t as tight as Kreuzschrauben.
