More awesome results coming from our Bluespark Stage 1 Remapping service. This time we had this VW Passat 2.0 TDI in for a custom tune. So it was up on the rollers and prepped for tuning…

With the car now way out of warranty, the customer wished to go for a remap, adding a couple of features not possible with just our tuning boxes.

The first run is with the car at stock, with no level of tune applied to see what engine is producing from factory. Once this is complete and logged, we apply our stage 1 remapping files using our Autotuner system. Then once we are happy with the upgrades, we run the car again to measure the tuned power and torque gains. After several revisions and adjustments, we perform further dyno runs to measure these adjustments. This process is repeated several times, until we reach the requirements for this custom tune. We then perform a final run to compare the differences from stock.

Dyno testing before and after shows healthy gains across the rev range, with a significant increase in power and torque.

Peak power was increased, we were able to lift it from 138hp at stock, up to 180hp with our custom tune. Taking a look at the dyno graph here 1:44 you can see how the curve changes, seeing those increases right down in the lower revs, right across until redline.

Torque was also greatly improved. At stock the engine produced 332Nm, and now 441Nm from the custom tune. Again, taking at look at the dyno graph and that curve, you can really see that difference, holding right throughout the rev range.

180 is not bad at all, I run just a bit more horsepower on a passat CKRA 2.0 diesel. Less torque due to the smaller passat turbo being more restrictive though
