I live on the south coast of England, the Isle of Wight is just a short trip from me. I can help with the red squirrel mystery. The native Red Squirrel used to be common over here but numbers decreased when the North American Grey Squirrels were introduced to the population. The Grey Squirrels were carriers of a disease that they themselves were immune to, alas the red squirrels were not and their population decreased. To conserve the red squirrel population large numbers were taken to islands and isolated areas away from mainland UK and away from the Grey Squirrels. The Isle of Wight is one of those places.

It makes me feel a teeny-teeny bit "better" (as in, less like I am alone in my misery) to hear that I was not the only one who had just paid the high prices on the secondary market for 1860 shortly before the KS campaign for the reprint was announced. I won't even disclose how much I (over)paid -- suffice to say it hurt a lot! :D
