Hey everyone! Thank you so much for 100 subscribers! I just want you to know that it means so much to me, knowing that all of you watch my videos and like them. So, thank you :) Sorry that this video is a little late, recently I've been having a lot of trouble with my computer. Also, sorry that some of the clips in this video are pretty blurry, my camera would not focus while I was filming. Anyways, today I'm showing you how to make a starburst granny square! This is one of my favorite things to crochet because it looks so beautiful once it's completed with the different types of stitches. I also like it because it's not your typical granny square and there are so many different color combinations that would look amazing in this pattern.

Pattern:
Round 1: Ch 5. Slip stitch into 1st ch (forms a ring). Ch 3. 15 dc into ring. Slip stitch into 3rd ch of chain 3.
Round 2: Ch 3. 1 puff stitch into same stitch. Ch 1. *1 puff stitch into next stitch. Ch 1* Repeat instructions between ** 14 more times (total of 16 puff stitches)
Round 3: Ch 3, 1 cluster stitch into same stitch (insert into stitch 3 times). Ch 2. *1 cluster stitch into next stitch (insert into stitch 4 times). Ch 2.* Repeat instructions between ** 14 more times (total of 16 cluster stitches.
Round 4: Ch 4. 2 tr into ch 2 gap from previous round. *3 dc into next ch 2 gap. 3 hdc into next ch 2 gap. 3 dc into next ch 2 gap. 3 tr into next ch 2 gap, ch 3, 3 tr into same ch 2 gap.* Repeat instructions in between ** 3 more times. When you get back to the original ch 2 gap that already has a chain 4 and 2 tr, do 3 tr into same ch 2 gap, ch 3, slip stitch into 4th ch of chain 4.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

The thing I love the most about granny squares is that you kind of complete a part of the project after every square. It always feels like WOW I completed something and get to start over with a new square lol as someone who goes to school and work full time I find it hard to complete any projects, so it's nice to be able to feel like you accomplished something quickly... even if you needed what seems to feel like a MILLION squares you still get that satisfaction from completing something.

I haven’t crocheted for about 35 years and although I’ve got arthritis in my hands I decided to have a go again. Your video was easy to follow and after quite a few mistakes at first I have managed to make my first success by crocheting a granny square, thank you for your easy to follow instructions 😁

For anyone who doesn't know, the light green row where she says she doesn't know the name, is a Double Crochet 4 Together cluster. The pattern abbreviation is dc4tog, but it could be any number of stitches being worked together. 3 stitches is dc3tog, 10 is dc10tog and so on. Happy stitching!

Big thanks for this super helpful video. Your voice is so much easier to listen to than a lot of yarn YouTubers, very chill and straightforward 💙😊

ADVICE FOR ANYONE LEARNING: Watch this video at night. Complete an entire square, even if it looks bad, and even if your brain isn't working LOL. Next morning, wake up and do the square again, you will never forget it

0:19 What you’ll need
0:30 what stitches she’s using

0:44 beginning middle part
2:53 color switch/next part
5:50 last circle part
9:35 white square part
(These are mainly for me lol)

I have been crocheting since I was 12. I'm now 65! Still crochet. The mystery stitch we have always called the "cluster" stitch. I'm sure there are many others that have grown to call it by another name. Very good tutorial! You are a very good teacher!! Glad to see young people keeping up with old traditions! Many blessings to you!!

Not only is the granny square pretty but I love the color combinations used in the granny. It is happy feeling. An entire afghan made of those granny squares would be beautiful and comforting.

This is my first time crocheting having been a knitter for years! Thank you for a clear and concise tutorial on this sunburst granny square! It came out great and I’m “hooked”!!
You do such a wonderful job of explaining and you are adorable!

10:06 white yarn is added for the outer square

10:58 double crochet
11:14 half-double crochet
12:15 to make the corners of the square

thank you for this pattern! so easy to follow and i appreciate you teaching the stitches as you go along <3

Hey everyone! So I often get lots of comments about how to make this square bigger, but I've also gotten comments from people saying that they were able to make it bigger. If you have attempted to make this square larger and have succeeded please comment here on how you were able to do it so that we can all share some ideas and help each other out :)

Thanks for your videos :) My 8 year-old daughter asked how to crochet and I am an art teacher who should know how...also my mother tried to teach me 100s of times. One view of your videos and I picked it right up and was able to teach her, and i am a 35 year old guy! Great job teaching clearly!

I am currently 14 years old and I started crocheting at 13. I remember lots of my classmates telling me that crochet was a boring activity for old grannies, and that I should do more interesting things. But I'm glad to see that young people like you are also crocheting. Thank you for your super easy tutorial! You have a new subscriber!
By the way, the stitch you didn't know the name of, I think it's called triple double crochet.

Excellent video! I'm 62 and a new crocheter but these directions are perfect to follow. I have made one and hope to make a headband of these. Thanks!

I love how simple you explain it. The fact that you go very slowly, and explain EVERYTHING very thoroughly is great! I have some crocheting experience, but I can see how this would be easy for even someone with no experience!
