Date Unknown….. Sometime after Don disappeared a man and his child wandered into BCR through a broken front gate and a lynx tore the child’s ear.
2006….. There were emergency instructions for staff members printed on the BCR website. Under the heading for what to do if a tour group member is bitten by a cat, the last instructions say; ”have person sign release form and give them compensation, to make it legal. This must be done immediately before outside influences encourage them to sue.”

They need to stop keeping these animals in captivity and let them live in the wild

1999 …..Jason Hasford: Jason was injured by the same brown lemur, Co Coa. The wound in his arm took 7 stitches. He too signed a release and was told not to talk about it.
1999……Jennifer Lowry: Jennifer Lowery was bitten by an Ocelot. (Case # 3632)
It looks as though she sued and it was settled out of court.

You see things like this where they're used as a prop in a show, basically, and people forget that they're wild animals that don't forget what they were born to do. Granted, some zoos don't have the best reputation, don't give their animals very nice habitats to live in or they're probably not cared for very well, but there's usually a good side, and that's the zoos that do exist that do everything to make sure the animals are happy and healthy, and make big conservation efforts.

And I thought WILD animals were friendly pets that you could play with.

1998…..Leah Dixon: Leah required hospital treatment after being attacked by a cougar which almost scalped her. By this time Baskin had learned to have the victims sign a release and then paid them to keep quiet. We have a copy of the release signed by Leah Dixon.

It's never the animal's fault. I certainly feel bad for her however it's not the tiger's fault. In those side road side zoos animals don't even have the right conditions (even if they have good intentions)Tigers need large enclosures to run and even like that there are always risks when working with wild animals. I'm very glad they're not putting the tiger down because it's not her faul. It's our fault to begin with for taking them out of their habitats due to illegal traffic and hunting.

Joe has rescued more animals in one year than BCR has done in its entire lifetime. Please explain all of the injuries at BCR listed below. :'D

Really, is that why they torture and kill helpless animals in the name of a "Sanctuary"? Is that why they rehab bobcats twice as long as need be?

Sorry for the multiple responses. The more tigers on the Earth is just that conservation. Efforts to save them in the wild have been proven to not be working. Until we can fix that problem, isn't it better to breed them to keep a large enough gene pool to keep them from going extinct all together? Use your common sense. More tigers = no extinction. He does get his tigers genetically tested prior to breeding for specific sub species. And, where is there a safe "wild" for them to live?

People should not lock animals up in cages, Yeah they are dangerous, so let them stay where they are supposed to be, in the wild.

Um... BCR is NOT a sanctuary. A true sanctuary does not exhibit their animals. Also, BCR is not licensed as a sanctuary. They are just another roadside zoo. Don't believe me? Check their licenses for yourself. You will not find any sanctuary license. Just a zoo/exhibitors permit which allows them to charge admission to expoit their animals for profit. At least Joe is honest about what he does.

I'm sorry, but the title is wrong. This place is NOT a sanctuary since they breed, trade and sell their animals. Please correct it :/
