Ever wondered what a conservator does to preserve important historical records? What are some of the principles guiding the work of a conservator? What does it take to be part of the team that helps preserve Singapore’s historical heritage?

Step into the Archives Conservation Lab with Sanira Beevi and get an exclusive sneak peek into a conservator’s sometimes challenging, often tiring, but always fascinating life. In this interactive session, put your decision-making skills to the test by helping the conservator preserve yet another piece of Singapore’s history for future generations.

Sanira Beevi Bte Karim is an artist who has worked with different mediums such as wax, fibreglass and clay and, as Senior Conservator with the National Archives of Singapore (NAS), she is keen to draw parallels across the different mediums, including paper. A self-professed history buff, Sanira feels honoured and privileged to be playing a pivotal role in preserving our historical patrimony through caring for NAS collections.

Curious about what goes on in the National Archives of Singapore? Join us for this monthly series of talks, as we unlock stories of our nation through the Archives’ collections.
