Mazda 3 G25 GT: The perfect car for weekend drives!
Another intriguing feature is that the Mazda 3's external style is almost identical across the board, implying that there is no added design subtlety across models. Consider it democratized design.
Overall, it's a smart-looking vehicle that neither seems like a "daggy dad sedan" next to a hatchback nor appears pretentious. When you combine the bodywork with Mazda's distinctive color options, such as Soul Red Crystal Metallic or Machine Grey Metallic, things become even better. "One of the greatest paint treatments I've seen on any automobile," said one of my colleagues. The additional $495 for either color is definitely worth the investment.
The idea of higher-tier mainstream continues to be sensed on the inside. Stacks of foam-padded vinyl cover the dashboard, which is significantly more appealing than coarsely grained plastic, hard or soft. The arrangement is straightforward, with an 8.8-inch widescreen infotainment system occupying the top half of the dashboard and tiny dual-zone temperature controls underneath it.
Aside from that, the interior, like the outside, is devoid of design flourishes. A rotary dial in the lower center console is used to interact with the vehicle's entertainment system. It's easier to use while driving, and it's less distracting than a traditional touchscreen device.
A head-up display that can be seen through polarized sunglasses, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, digital radio, two USB connections, and a 7.0-inch center driving display are among the other features available up front.
Blind-spot monitoring, lane departure and keeping assist, rear cross-traffic warning, and front and rear autonomous emergency braking are among the driver-assistance features. The overall switchgear in the interior also has a high-end feel about it. A definite and accurate click acknowledges the engagement of switches and buttons, comparable to what you'd hear and feel in an Audi. Sure, it's a little thing, but it makes a big difference in terms of perceived quality, particularly when the design is as fantastic as it is here.
This equipment level has heated leather seats, but the look is more traditional than athletic. While they won't keep you secure on a fast drive up a scenic route, they will keep you comfy all the time, which is probably more essential. The hip position is excellent for the section, so entering and departing won't put too much pressure on the body.
The boot space is 444 liters, which is 149 liters more than the Mazda 3 hatchback. If there's any incentive for a young family to choose the sedan over the hatchback, this is it. The available width is sufficient to absorb a small stroller lengthwise, which is the best method to store it. Its fullest reaches do need a stretch, but that's a common sedan quirk. A space-saving spare wheel is hidden under the boot floor.
Now for the journey. The normal Mazda 3 lineup is unique in that it has a naturally aspirated engine. As a consequence, its four-cylinder engine displacement of 2.5 litres remains excessive for the class. At 4000rpm, the engine produces 139kW of peak power and 252Nm of maximum torque.
The rest of the package is just as appealing as the engine. The steering wheel is light, yet the computerized system responds genuinely and, more importantly, feels precise. Modern'semi-sporty' automobiles can have heavy, strange-feeling steering that is just weird.
While it may lack the heaviness that some want, the ability to drive at high speeds, maneuver into tight parallel parking spaces, or just travel home safely after a hard day is all done without the ambiguity that certain’ sportier-tuned' systems suffer from.
The ride quality pleased me in a variety of circumstances, including rural, metro, and suburban. It's not too sporty or forceful, but it's dependably pleasurable, much like the handling. It will show a modest bit of roll at high speeds, but will gently cosset rough inner-city roads.
In comparison to competitors in the sector, the Mazda achieves a greater combination of comfort and capability. On a good road, you'd pick its plushness and flexible damping over a vehicle that's harder but more buttoned-down any day.
