Clay the bassist is really good too. He has his own voice on the instrument.

But make no mistake, the moment you start listening to their bass lines you will give up the bass too

Listening to those songs really makes me want to write a polyphia song. I’m inspired to be better, not inspired to give up. I know that they worked hard for a long time to get that good and I’m about half way there. I don’t let other musicians flex and make me feel bad, I admire.

Here's the problem:

You don't need to be like anyone other than you. An instrument is a tool for you to express your inner voice. YOUR inner voice. You don't need to play anything other than what is in your heart to be fing amazing. So don't be intimidated, be inspired.

If you slow down their riffs, it’s actually quite manageable

Have you even listened to their bass lines? Clay is a beast

I get inspired af when I see something like those, not feeling like trash and demotivated like the rest 💀 must be hard for some ppl to feel inferior.

As soon as he hesitated i knew he was gonna grab the Superior instrument

Now go and watch Charles Berthoud cover the guitar lines to that song on bass. You will give up on music all together.

They actually just inspire me to get better

Gober's hybrid technique is absolutely IMMENSE. His evolution in playing style has been a treat to monitor, wish there was some more direct content from our boy.

until you go and try and play a polyphia songs bass part and you decide to quit music altogether

They mastered the guitar 10 years ago.. If you go to their first videos you'll see they were very technical and shredding like crazy.. Now they have mastered their own style and it's a different challenge..

Actually the polyphia effect is the opposite for me, to the point where I couldn't put the guitar down while learning GOAT intro. Even when my wrist started hurting. Now I'm on day 3 of total rest until it heals.
