Hey Swimmers - I believe that EVERYONE can swim without fear and with 100% confidence. We just need to maintain our comfort levels and learn to eliminate fear. You see, it is our engrained psychology of fear that is preventing us from learning to swim / learning to tread water, it is not our inability physically or incorrect technique.

I once fell into this overhead tank when i was kid and got scared of water like hell though immediately rescued..35 yrs never dared to enter into any water things like pools, water sports, beaches, small streams etc., finally wanted to get over this fear as my 6yr old kid was forcing me to have a swim time with him( like family swim time) registered private classes at swimming complex.. Learning little by little and did my back float today and yes whatever the mistakes you said beginers make, I made it...Instructor corrected everything that I was making wrong and finally made a quick back float( though wobbled alot )without any help and then realised how even a little movement can make us sink or float... Your video helped me gain more confidence amd correct my techniques for my next class..
Thank you

My cousin taught me how to swim now but hes teaching me how to go into the deep end of the pool and how to float incase i get tired of swimming, hes teaching me how float back wards.

I'll try these 3 steps when I get into to the pool one of these days, thank you!

I have always been swimming and is trying to teach a girl to swim but wanted to check if i was missing something or had something wrong since i never reflected over. It has been interesting to see her do mistakes i didnt think was possible. Drowning is basically actively pulling yourself down into the depths.

My son 10yo makes these 3 mistakes. I asked his young trainers what is it thats off with his technique - they couldn't discribe it. I think I can correct with these tips. Thanks for posting the basics!!!

How do you breathe while swimming or floating? Do I have to keep a certain level of air in my lungs or breathe normally?

I find floating on the back so natural...i timed myself for 10 minutes once then got bored

am so relaxed in water, yet I can't float without slowly but constantly moving my arms, or legs. I understand the concept of filling the lungs with air. when I do so and stand vertically in a 3m pool, I float to the extend that my nose comes out of the water while am perfectly still. once I breathe out, I immediately sink till my feet touch the bottom. Am not a gym guy, but with my physical structure, is quite tempting to think so. could my muscles be the reason I can't float horizontally but 'can' vertically?

Whenever I try to float on my back, I relax as well as I can, but my legs start to sink a bit and I feel like I’m not going it eight. I’m looking straight into the sky and trying my best to float, but the bottom half of my body always sinks. Any suggestions?
