I never thought of this before. You are making some good points here. Note, however, that most of these are rental properties. It is up to the property owners, not the tenants like BNS, to organize the parking.

That’s how they did it back in the days, went uptown and developed “ race course “ new Kingston and is now moving back downtown. Remember, back in the days, under building parking was not a thing. Lack of spaces in cities now is changing..

Environmentally as it is used it is better. Less concrete structures. However to maximize efficiency it would seem right to build multilevel parking lots but the city would seem less open and less naturally appealing.

I agree. Parking garage is absutely necessary. Security of persons must be obvious in the finish garage. This must be part of the planning of the structure.

If the land is privately owned it is the owners business as to what he wants to do with it.
If it is gov't owned, then you can put your two cents in.
Parking space is essential. Downtown is mostly for businesses. Where do you expect the vehicles to go?
I would rather have that space open, have ships coming into the harbor, and people coming on shore right there. No new buildings. Any new buildings, I will guarantee, would not be owed by Jamaicans. The majority of Jamaicans will not even be allowed to enter.
