A changing current like the alternating current from an outlet creates a changing magnetic field around the wire. In this demonstration a changing current in a coil of wire creates a changing magnetic field around the coil of wire. If a metal loop is placed over the coil, the changing magnetic field creates a changing magnetic flux inside the loop inducing a current in the loop. That current creates its own magnetic field that opposes the changing flux. Thus, the coil's magnetic field and the loop's magnet field oppose each other and repel. And, the loop goes flying.
