DNC 2024 Live: Democrats Gear Up For Kamala Harris’ Acceptance Speech | Democratic Convention | N18G
Vice President Kamala Harris will accept her party’s nomination and offer her policy agenda on the fourth and final night of the Democratic National Convention.

Convention chairwoman Minyon Moore and Rep. Veronica Escobar, a Texas Democrat, took the stage to welcome the delegates for the last session.

Thursday night’s program is packed with members of Congress and other Democratic leaders and will conclude with Vice President Harris formally accepting her party’s nomination.

The arena is also buzzing about the possibility of a secret special guest making an appearance. But, so far at least, the secret is holding and who the guest might be — if it’s actually anyone at all — remains a mystery.

Democrats’ triumphant Chicago convention has entered its final day. So far this week, we’ve heard from two former presidents (Obama, Clinton), one current president (Biden), the vice-presidential candidate (Walz), a bevy of high-ranking elected officials, Michelle Obama, and Oprah. But the main event — Kamala Harris’s acceptance of the Democratic nomination, in a speech that seemed far-fetched just a few weeks ago — awaits. Harris has reportedly been intensely focused on her address, which will focus on her biography and themes of American patriotism. Before she speaks, another slate of heavy hitters will sing her praises, including Senator Elizabeth Warren and Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer — and possibly a certain singer-songwriter surprise guest. One lingering question is whether Dems can get it together to stay on schedule, which they have failed to do three nights in a row, with speakers going well past the 11 p.m. hour every time.
