Fine Tune Your Miter Saw | Dewalt 779 Miter & Bevel Adjustment

Показать описание
A miter saw is used for a precise cut, but how do you know if your cut is accurate?

In this episode I review how to adjust the Dewalt 779 for both Miter Cuts & Bevel Cuts. It super easy, should take less than an hour, and shouldn’t need to be touched again.

Overall Steps to Adjust
Check Table, Fence, & Blade
- Unplug your saw
- Check to ensure your table and fence are both flat with a carpenters square
- Rotate your blade to ensure it’s not bent or out of shape

Miter Cut
- Set the saw to a 90 degree bevel cut (straight up and down)
- Using your carpenters square against the fence, ensure the blade has no gaps along its length
- Check the other side as well
- If adjustments need to be made
- Loosen the face plates of the angle guide
- Tap it until the square is flush
- Tighten the face plate

Bevel Cut
- Rotate the blade to either + or - 45 degrees
- Using a Digital gauge or a machinist square, check that it’s at 45
- If not correct, adjust the appropriate fastener on the back of the saw
- Repeat for other 45 degree cut
- Bring saw to 90 degrees and measure with digital gauge or machinist square
- If not correct, adjust with the appropriate fastener in the back of the saw

It sounds complicated but when you see the mechanism, it’s very simple. If you have any confusion, watch the video.

Thanks as always, be safe, and happy woodworking!

Man this was great, thank you. I have ADHD and a lot of these tutorials were long and drawn out. This was great for a beginner.

My husband was going to cut some boards for a closet I am designing, but I checked his blade at 90 degrees per another guy's video with his speed square and it was off. He said he didn't know how to fix it, so I straightened it using that bolt per your video while he was taking a nap.

Just got this saw and got tired of reading the instructions and hunting for numbered dots. Thanks - Subbed.

You deserve an award for a very thorough explanation and well edited instructional video, kind sir. Have you noticed that the blade guard's wheels are problematic when doing bevel cuts? Mine can't roll along the the work piece like it should because of the aggressive angle and I had to remove my blade guard entirely.
Thanks!

Very cool video!👍👍... Just remember...
✴️✴️✴️ That when you are checking the bevel angle with a digital angle finder, don't forget to rotate the blade a quarter or a half turn when taking a reading; so that your measuring device will be at a different spot on the blade so that you can get multiple readings from the blade surface; which will help eliminate possible defects in the blade itself(eg:a bent or warped blade) from throwing off your measurement by a decimal or two. 👍
✴️✴️Also✴️✴️
When checking for the bevel angle with a digital angle finder remember to put the magnetic meter on the bottom side of the blade as well as the top side of the blade to check the measurement and see if there is any difference due to the weight of the magnetic calibration device, when on the top side of the blade... (Not as important though, depending on the size and weight of your digital angle finder device...)
Peace!!!😁

Thank you. So much better than trying to follow the instruction manual. Quick question, I am new to a lot of this..that digital angle guide you used looks very useful. Does it require that the surface the saw is on is perfectly level?
