My take on KORG SV-2 in 2021 | In the shed with... (ep#6)

@chrisonpiano brings the utterly gorgeous KORG SV-2 stage piano to The Shed and offers up "3 things I don't like and 5 things I do". There's loads of playing and experimenting going on, so sit back and enjoy.

An observation i have-
Is the preamp tube active whenever the SV2 is on.
When the tube needs to be replaced, is it user friendly, and can it be a DIY fix.
btw- what case would you suggest for this unit for easy transport for local gigs. Thank you so much. ☮️🎹 btw- plastic type keys and 73 keys are not a deal breaker in my book.

🤔 Any experience and observation on the Yamaha CP73 or weighted action CP88? That’s the other consideration I have. Mainly the CP73 since it’ll my gigging keyboard with a balanced action. Thank you.

I think the layout of the two video feeds should depend on the content of the video. For gear-centered videos, showcase the hardware (preferably not rotated 90 degrees) as the primary. Keeping your face is totally fine, since it personalizes the video, it just shouldn't be the focus (in my opinion). For general thoughts or opinion videos, showing you as the primary makes more sense (since it would be more about you).

Just my two cents. Great presentation and demo either way! I just ordered an SV-2S and I'm quite excited for it!

sv2 is amazing - view option #1 works best here . Whatever shows the item being reviewed best is what I rather. A view over your shoulder toward the instrument would also be nice.

When you want a piano that 'feels' real also try the Crumar Seven. Its a matter of taste but I picked that one and it plays en sounds really good. Its from GSI and it uses physical modeling.

Edit: the Crumar has build-in wifi and you can choose and edit between models and samples by just using a browser from any OS. But there aren't as many pathes as with the Korg but for me thats a good thing. You can use 8 types of FM modeling and use a synth patch with any patch right away. I also started using Bandlab for jamming and it blends perfectly from Android, so no need for a drumm machine.

Thank's for the demo, I just have one correction. Yamaha CP88 and P515 also have plastic keys, though they have wood-inlays in the side of the keys. But that is only for the estetic, nothing you probably can feel. Kawai MP11SE is the only keyboard slab who has solid keys made of tree.

Beautiful sounds you created at the end, specially the first one, was it a preset or your creation? Also one question did you notice a buzz from the speakers ? I saw that was a fault when it first came out but maybe they solved it. Thanks for the good review.

Chris - this or the CP-88? Very similar price (if you shop around) and the CP does more and gives you more control, but damn the SV looks sexy...

Basically - I can’t afford a real Fender Rhodes piano & loads of guitar FX pedals, nor can I quite stretch to a Nord, but I can just about stretch to the SV2S 88… I think this is what I need to buy? Done! 😂

Okay hello I really am enjoying initial experiences with encountering your work and just overall everything it's I think you're making really really good work and nice and with respect to the question on the screens so I think really like you have like asking the question like what are the benefits of seeing hands and fingers play keys and in my mind it's like either because of the virtuosity of the player like the hands are so relaxed so fast like doing just like exceptional like things that are just going to be sort of whatever it's like watching you know pro skateboarder but with the hands or it's because it gives a visual for assimilating absorbing like the like harmonic and melodic sounds by looking at the shapes the hands and fingers are making etc so I think that really I feel like there's if you accept that premise that like you know you well until like considering those things the I only feel I feel like it only makes sense to have like a pretty whatever zoomed in shot like the hands need to be clear visible fingers need to be like right and so to me the only way really that makes sense is the hands and fingers shot split horizontally but maybe a want two to one ratio in terms of like the piano fingers one being a little bit smaller I guess in this case like shorter for like y-axis type yeah and yeah that's basically my thoughts I think it's like it really does like doesn't make that much sense to me to have it split left right like or bisected with the vertical thing in the middle I'm just because it like there's really no way like essentially that just like either the viewers either completely ignoring one or the other you really can't simultaneously track the fingers or hands like laterally like that like so you know and then so which I also think like if you do them at the bottom and then on top you have another picture like that lateral scanning actually does allow for there to be like both like a periphery on the above one but also you could then peripularly move laterally while you were looking at a top one I did this while driving a taxi with voice to text and I do sincerely apologize but I hope to see more of your work thanks for posting it and sharing it it's awesome.

I don't like the keyboard being shown vertically. Definitely your first option for display. It's good to see the keyboard from the pianists point of view when you play. Is it possible to switch to full screen for you when you are just talking.
