1: Disable ssh if unnecesary. For sure disable root log in.

2: Dont use sudo when unnecessary

3: Dont run scripts you dont understand

4: Dont install from untrusted repositories

5: Dont allow automatic log-in

6: Ad blocker + DNS filtering (+ disable javascript if you REALLY care about security on the web)

regarding on "Alice" case, she can use a separate profile in her favorite browser one each for her social media. She should limit the usage on that profile for that for that social media (i.e. for meta just do meta stuff there. no more no less). Coupled with a VPN, tracking would be minimized though digital footprint would depend on how she would post. If she posts a lot of pictures and videos that can easily be geolocated ... well ...

Well, first off, don't expose your Linux system to the Internet. If you do, limit who can login remotely via ssh with tcpwrappers. Yes, lock down ssh, don't allow root logins. Log who is banging on your ssh server.
