I realize these detailed review videos are very long. The reason is that I try to include as much information as possible to allow all of you fellow diabetics to have all the information you need to be able to decide if Omnipod 5 is a good fit for you. It takes a lot of time and energy to analyse every bit of the system but I love doing that. And I always want to improve so I would love to hear your feedback to see whether there is anything I can do better in my future review videos. Please let me know!

I was lucky enough to get mine in the limited release back in may, and I’ve been using it for close to 6 months now. You’re absolutely correct about the algorithm learning in the beginning. When I first started my time in range wasn’t the greatest, after a month or two, I was having multiple days a week 100% in range. The AI basal rate on the 5 is absolutely insane! I still can’t believe an algorithm is keeping me this well managed without any input from me! And I just got my A1C, 5.8! Absolutely crazy!

I’m a school nurse in the US, and have 3 young diabetics, one uses Omni pod 5, the other 2 are using Kwickpen. I love the Omnipod, it has been amazing in stopping many dangerous lows. I love that it is working in the background to keep her at her target, instead of having to wait 3 hrs between corrections. The graphs from the kids show the difference, significantly fewer big swings from the Omnipod user. Loving all the real user info on your site.

I love mine. I've had it for a few months along with the dexcom. It's changed my world.

I have been on the omnipod 5 for a couple months. I love it. Previously, I had the tandem tslim. My thoughts? The user interface and phone app and glucose tracking software is far superior on tslim. That being said, I love love love not having tubes, and I love not having to adjust basal rates. Another important feature is that omnipod is ok to go through airport scanners. That's great for people who travel. Also, the supplies needed to tote along are much less with omnipod. The syringe, infusion set, and pump are all contained in one little package. I wish omnipod's user interface was more like tandem's. Tandem has them beat. Aside from that, i will never go back to a tubed pump. You don't realize how much having that pump on a wire hampers you and gets in your way until you go without it.

I broke my leg back in late March because I had a low blood sugar at 3:00 in the morning and collapsed while walking to get some food. I was in insulin pens, but I wrote my doctor and immediately told him to put me on a pump because he said it would help stop the 3:00 am lows and help prevent my spikes (every day for 6 months, I'd wake up with 358 or higher blood sugars). He recommended the Omnipod. Took me three months to get trained on it for some reason (then again, I did have a broken leg) but now that I'm on it, I love it. I've been on it a week now and already I can see my blood sugars evening out. The pod did not stop my 3:00 am crashes, but I learned to put my omnipod in Activity mode from 1-4, and at 4 it starts up again and prevents my spikes. It's so nice sleeping again and waking up with normal blood sugars.

I was diagnosed with T1 about 4 weeks ago, im 42 years old. This whole thing scares me, and doctors are already talking about pumps to me. My YouTube is now full of diabetes videos.

I am so hopeful systems like this get approved in Australia. I’m already stressed enough and the automated mode sounds like a massive life changer.

Greetings from Chicago, IL - USA. My daughter is comparing the Omnipod 5 to the Tandem T-Slim x2 and your videos are very helpful in helping her make a decision. At first she was leaning toward the Tandem, but after seeing this video especially about the algorithm and learning, she’s thinking now she wants to go with the Omnipod 5. We’ll keep learning … going to check out Meg’s videos now.

Thanks for these amazing videos on diabetes technology. As an adult type 1 diabetes physician and clinical researcher, my experience with the technology is very sterile and often limited from a personal experience standpoint. Your videos provide the necessary color to my experience, allowing me to provide better recommendations to patients. So far, the Omnipod 5 system has been positively received through my clinic, but there have been a few setbacks that several individuals have reported. Firstly, connectivity issues with the pods requiring pod changes: this isn't common, but when it happens, it can be very frustrating, since the pods cannot be recovered for continued use after a fatal disconnect. Secondly, several of my patients have reported issues with 0 basal delivery occurring during daytime and overnight use, without particular reason. This has occurred early on in the use of the system when first released, and I haven't appreciated any similar episodes within the last 4-6 months, but I'm still asking my patients about these events whenever they come in to see me, just in case. Adhesive issues are less common with the newer pods in my estimate, but phone charging issues while using the app (especially on older phone models) is a common issue, due to the processing requirement and the need to turn off battery optimization. I hope this helps others when considering this system over other artificial pancreas options, and I would love to hear your input on these particular issues as well. Thanks again. Joseph El Youssef.

I sure do think it would be beneficial to train people before leaving the hospital with a diagnosis and offer training at any time, regardless of insurance. I appreciate your time and am grateful for YouTube.

I’ve been using OmniPod 5 for a week now and I love it. I came from Medtronic with Guardian 3. This is a HUGE upgrade.

I’m not sure if it’s been put out on any official message board yet or not but I started omnipod yesterday and the lady who did the training class said they were working on making the 5 compatible with dexcom g7. This is my first pump after nine years of being turned down for a pump.

FDA and USA approves libre q and libre 3 for insulin pump system delivery. There will be modified Liberty and libre sensors in the USA for the fact that it'll be compatible with insulin pump delivery systems. Just wanted to give heads up.

Great info! I started using the system in late June/ early July of last year. Still waiting on the iPhone app to be available, although there's a part of me that doesn't mind having a separate device. (If my phone gets stolen, I typically also have my meter with me, and can just use manual mode and still get insulin with the controller.)
