The Mass Effect team really needs to stop worrying about creating aliens that are relatable to us. Not every alien has to look like a human and be visually appealing. A good and experienced writer can make even the most hideous looking creature sympathetic and interesting. The Geth and Quarians are perfect examples of how to make aliens with no visible facial features relatable. Andromeda was the perfect opportunity to get as creative as they wanted with new alien races but instead we got more similar-looking humanoid races.

I think it’d be fascinating to have a scary/evil looking alien race that is actually noble and good.

The concept of evil entities actually being good and “good, nice looking” aliens actually being evil always interests me.

This is wicked interesting. And could open up some interesting conversations about the individual Hue-mon’s self worth. How they view themselves when they constantly have to pretend to be someone else.

So Hue-mon kinda reminds me of Lekgolo from Halo. A colony of alien worms formed into creatures like Hunters or even a giant vehicle like Scarab.
I could only imagine what would their ships be like a fleshy bio-mechanical-like structure. Creepy...

I loved the concept. I hope they introduce it, it seems like a unique design/idea in a word of homogeneous scifi creations

I feel like that race was recycled into the Hanar. Even the names are somewhat similar. They're both pink and somewhat amorphous. A lot of players don't like Hanar because of their preachy nature. Honestly the developers probably felt like they had enough unrelatability between the Geth, Vorcha, Krogans, Quarians and the punching bags(meant Batareans)

Besides Leviathan, ..maybe more aquatic races would add some lore to the story. ?..

I like the name Hue-Mons - kind of on the nose to trigger people's uncanny valley :P

Which is true, nothing scarier than seeing something looks like a human but not quite that it alerts our primitive senses that something is not right.
It's been theorized why this is unsettling for many people is because in our hunter gathering days seeing someone not right was a sign of sickness and diseases.

Another example is when wildlife researchers placed puppets that look like animals, the animal they mimic become aggressive and attack it when they find out it isn't really their kind.

The OG Mass Effect team needed to make their aliens more alien for the aspect of space is exploring the unknown is seeing things that do not relate to humans in appearance or mindset or culture.

New things and variety is what I like. Of course, when there's a good thing, I will milk the crap out of it for a long time, so having the s.o.s is cool too. We won't grow if we don't introduce new elements and characters. Love the work braa xo

I know after andromeda there might be an over-correction as far as # of new alien species goes, but I really do hope we get at least a handful of new aliens to gel or fight with. and we need more elcor/volus/hanar aliens like the huemons, get weird with it. even the Raloi would be an interesting addition

To be honest... i don't mind weird aliens no matter how grotesque they are, the real problem is the uncanny valley, the fact that they try to imitate human beings is creepy afk.
One example of an alien the is grotesque and horrifying but at the same time doesn't bring this uncanny valley effect would be the rachni.
I even give another example, that would be awesome at the same time terrifying, Greta, from Beyond the Aquila Rift ep, of Love Death + Robots, she is an alien that is grotesque horrifying but at the same time, so nice and cool, able to use her telepathic power to connect with other beings, imagine her, with her own room on the normandy, one room that most folks avoid, but at the same time her presence is always felt in the Normandy as a positive one, giving the Normandy crew nice dreams, taking care of the mental health of the crew.
Greta isn't anything like a fighter, in fact she wouldn't fit for this role, best description of her his an alien giant spider (or a beatiful person in your mind...

Do you have any idea's or theories on how the Raloi or the Virtual aliens could impact mass effect 4. Loved you talking about the Hue-mons and wondered if you were going to look into these species as well.

Was thinking about this the other day. Why are all the races (bar the hanar) bipedal and similar is size. You'd just need to look at our own history, when there was just a little more oxygen in the atmosphere we had 100 ton dinos and dragon flies with 2m wing spans. So why aren't there giant races (from low gravity, high oxygen worlds) or small, well build 6 legged intelligent things from high gravity worlds. I know in the real world its to do with the limitation of the game itself. Be nice if there was an in game reason for there being no giant or tiny races.

Like the idea of this race but they definitely need a different name
