I can't believe my ears. Edm, opera, traditional Japanese folk... orchestral... all meshed into one song. How. I've died and gone to heaven... no. Not heaven. Its such a great time to be alive to be able to hear such glorious work of art!! Stuff like this is what makes life worth living.

The fact that Mihoyo chose an Italian opera singer to portray Scaramouche here is so on point.
Besides, that Italian singer is a freaking legend!
Paolo sang on so many other games and anime, such as FF7 Remake Intergrade, Final Fantasy VI’s Pixel Remaster and more.
Definitely keep an eye on him, the dude is going places!

I saw a JP comment on the JP Youtube channel and really liked this interpretation of the JP part, so here it is:
ごやのすゑなぞながされ Goya no sue nazo nagasare
Goya no sue = at the end of the 5th night
Nazo = why
Nagasare = washed away (in this sense probably thrown away)
"Why did you throw me away on the 5th night?"

It was tradition to name your child on the 7th day after their birth, so this is basically like Scaramouche asking,
“Why did you throw me away before giving me a name?”

The highlight here is the man's voice and the freaking japanese flute gave me chills.

Freddie Mercury: "you can do whatever you like with my image, my music, remix it, re-release it, whatever. Just never make me boring"

Yu Peng Chen: "and I take that personally"

The last part at 3:03 is so smart. The lyrics "Nunquam genitus desiderem" translates to "I wish wish I had never been born", also the way they are standing is an obvious bohemian rhapsody reference. Love genshin music so much.

This version is fire!!!

I love both versions.
The one where Yu-Peng Chen sings sounds to me like a lonely man with towering ambitions, a smaller entity wrapped in an enormous energy, hands reaching up to heavens in both defiance and longing. Almost like a child, lost, wanting desperately to belong somewhere and he'll conquer and crush anything to achieve it.

This version with this amazing Italian opera singer gives me the feeling of loud proclamation and formidable danger. It's more... mature. Scaramouche becoming more than what he was yet his core being still shines through in brief yet unmistakable moments of anguish and abandonment.

Both are valid, both are cannon. I love both!!!

And I think the version in game is perfect as is and this version for the music album is perfect as well!!

Scaramouche is definitely one of hoyoverses favourite characters. To referencing his entire kit constellations talents and outfit to a Buddhist. To litterally getting a italian singer to sing in a live version of his battle theme. Honestly hes by far the best written character in genshin

Bro the singer looks like some dark lord. Even his dress is a perfect match for the song!

This is honestly the best OST in the game. Scara's boss fight is absolutely crazy! Love it.

Scaraamouche.

The fact that it was sung in Latin and Japanese is such a clever detail since Scaramouche was a prominent figure in the Harbingers and Inazuma where his story began.

It's unbelievable. How much effort and soul Yu-Peng Chen put into this masterpiece, composing it and even giving it his voice in the game himself. How much emotion and meaning Hsiang Liu, the lyricist of this song, put into their work, giving us the opportunity to experience feelings and thoughts of our favorite character. How many talented people from different cultures and musical directions came together to perform it. How many fans united their love for the character and knowledge to translate the lyrics, to find and parse every detail and reference that was so lovingly invested in this composition as well as in the whole character of Scaramouche. And how much support the fans gave to HoYoverse, without which we could not have enjoyed it.

Thank you all so much ♡
