About the lecture:
This talk with review the current knowledge of a new form of chronic kidney disease that has emerged over the past two decades in the dry zone of Sri Lanka, where the underlying causes remain largely undetermined. The talk will provide a summary of the available evidence on prevalence, clinical profile and risk factors of chronic kidney disease of uncertain etiology in the north-central region of Sri Lanka.

About the speakers:

Rajitha Wickremasinghe is a Professor of Public Health at the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka. His research interest include epidemiology, nutrition, noncommunicable diseases, public health policy, and disability.
​​Kamani Wanigasuriya is a Professor, Faculty of Medicine at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. She is currently conducting research in the field of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) with a special interest in the CKD of unknown aetiology in the North Central province of Sri Lanka.
