In fact, things called "Kava Bars" have been opening up and are gaining popularity as of recently. Which begs the question - "Is Kava even safe to drink?" Watch the video to find out!

The headaches mentioned here that occur for some users are caused by dehydration. Kava is a diuretic. Make sure to drink plenty of water along with your kava and don't start drinking when you've had no water in the day yet and voila! no headache.

I drunk kava most nights, whilst living in Fiji. I think the reason you didn't feel much, is because kava is thought of as a social thing. More like going to a pub. You start with one pint and gradually drink more through the night, as appossed to most psychoactive drugs, where you take a dose.
I have regularly seen the effects work on a group. Its a relaxant. A lot of the backpacker hostles use it to welcome in new tenents. They will sit round and watch the kava mixed. The room would start off very quiet, as normal with a room full of strangers. But 20 minutes to half an hour later, everybody is chatting, laughing and joking, as if they are no longer strangers (even the naturally shy, quiet ones). I guess taking it alone is kind of counter productive.
The great thing I found with kava is you get a feel for it. It's easy to gauge, when you've had enough.
And i never once had a hangover. I'd always feel refreshed the next morning.

as of now (January 2019) KAVA is no longer banned in poland. Government removed it from the list of prohibited substances.

Maybe i'm hyper sensitive but when i tried kava for the first time i literally felt it within 10 min, my whole body felt relaxed, my mind was super chill, kinda high & i felt a bit more happy but warm in my head, i only used one table spoon of crushed dried roots & prepared it the same way as shown in the vid. It does relax you if you let it ;-)

I personally get a sense of slight euphoria when I take kava. It's similar to benzos in it's ability to help with anxiety, but I find that unlike benzos I don't feel numb to emotion all together from it.

kava is a unique drug. i use kratom everyday and i take kava every so often. i take kava for kratom withdrawal especially and it makes the withdrawal symptoms pretty much dissapear. kava is fantastic for: anxiety for a presentation, sleep, relaxation, impede overthinking. imo it puts me in a different zone. like i feel focused strangely. the body high is not intense. its very subtle but the mental high is intense. it makes me feel very at ease because i tend to overthink a lot.

My experience in Fiji drinking Kava . The locals invited me to a 'session" involving sitting in a circle on the floor and having round after round over a period of several hours with a group of about 10 people. The custom was to cup your hands and clap three times before receiving your serving in a coconut shell. After that you went around the group saying "bulla" to each member. The word bulla means something like, shot bud, mint, sweet, sup or sup bro, hows it?, how you doing, all goods, hey, cheers, chur or chur bro. After that you drink the potion. To me it tasted woody. As the evening progressed the locals were pretty keen to keep going and some of the group dropped out. I'd be thinking yeah I've had enough, then look over and see the locals starting another big bowl...looks like I'll be here a bit longer lol. Eventually my tongue and lips were numb and I knew I had had enough, the locals were keen for me to carry on but I felt like a couldn't stomach any more. That night I slept like a log and didn't hear my alarm, I nearly missed the taxi to the airport. I had no hangover and felt good but slightly groggy, I remember thinking if I had consumed that much alcohol the night before I would be feeling rotten right now. It's a social brew and best enjoyed with good company and good sounds. Bulla!
