Oh finally a reaction to Zhou Shen! Thanks guys! 🙂 "Zhou" is pronounced like "Joe" with the J sounding a bit sharper like the "Ch" in Charlie. BTW, Charlie is Zhou Shen's Western name.
His fans call him Shen Shen.
Zhou Shen started early with singing, joined the school choir and won the first place repeatedly in choir competitions. But when he hit puberty his voice didn't significantly change. Since he still sounded like a girl in middle school he was ridiculed by his classmates and they were calling him names. Because of the discrimination he experienced, he became more and more silent. He didn't sing on stage for three years in junior high school. Fortunately he regained confidence and was able to make his uniqueness his strength. He studied Bel Canto at the Ukrainian Conservatory of Music and today he is one of the most popular singers in China.
Zhou Shen plays the piano, guitar and clarinet. He can speak five foreign languages: English, Ukrainian, Russian, Italian and Polish (his French is pretty decent too) and he sings in even more languages.


Zhou Shen does not always sing that high, but he usually prefers his upper register.

To experience his versatility, I recommend a few performances:

"The Song of Heaven Island" (a spooky song; orginal titel "Hide and Seek"). I can send you a link with English subs, but on YT his performance is only w/o subs.
"Humans are": I can send you a link with English subs. He sings deeper in this one.

Welcome to the Zhou (sounds like Joe) Shen world. He is just incredible. He always sings live. His performances are amazing. He is one of the most famous singers in China. He can and does sing everything. His vocal abilities are outstanding. If he was in the US he would be a superstar. He speaks 6 languages and sings in 11 languages. You can find him singing English songs but I love his Chinese songs. He just released his second album and is performing to sold out crowds throughout China. He also sings original soundtracks for films. So many performances to see. I recommend Moonlight, The Miracle Moment, Ring the Doorbell, Da La. Bengba, Song of Heaven Island, Cold to the End, Memory from Cats, so many more. .
