I am in my 50s and man this whole thing has brought me to tears. Redbull should have absolutely given him a proper send off. They have treated him very poorly when it was an easy thing to do to send him off properly.

RB screwed Danny over in Baku 2018 when they decided to blame him as well as Max for a crash that was 100% Verstappen’s fault. Paraded them in front of the whole team to apologise. That was the final straw to get him to leave for Renault. Max was definitely the future of the team however.

The saddest thing about Ricciardo's treatment was not putting him back in the A team when he came back. They botched the announcement that he's going to get the arse to trump themselves as well. Daniel was the only F1 driver with a real personality. With his smile and his shoeee to his off-track antics, we were entertained. It's going to be a dull drab F1 paddock from now on. Thanks for the memories Daniel.

DR was a great character in f1, what ever happened with McLaren he just never found his form again. Gutted for him as he was one of the top drivers on the grid for years.

Get this man in an indy car asap. I need a driver to root for over there. I think he'd love it like most of the other former f1 drivers. You get more wheel to wheel racing and its more of a drivers car. Its not as smooth at cornering and you actually have to fight the car through them.

💯 Agree. The bittersweet irony of that fastest lap - a parting gift… from Redbull, to Redbull. Recent results aside, the popularity and sheer dollar value Danny Ric has gifted F1 is astronomical (Gunther too of course). I understand why he’s being dropped, but it was a sad send off. I’ll be looking out for the Honey Badger in any type of car he drives next. God speed sir.

I think the team fogot that besides the bad luck. When VCARB changed Daniel Ricciardo's chassis he started out performing Yuki instantly.. Something was wrong with that first chassis and too little people talk about it. The damage was already done.

Red bull deserve to fall on their face if this is true, not for getting rid of Ric, it is what it is, but (if it's true) the way they've gone about it .

Very sad and disrespectful the way Redbull treating Daniel in this way.Daniel is not the Daniel of old that little sprinkle of magic he once had had gone a long time ago.But his race wins the way he conducted himself and the exposure he has given to the sport over the years is immense.The truth is most of the f1 drivers have no personality and are boring so Daniel did bring personslity and humanity to the sport.Sad time for F1 in general as we have lost a real character.

The optics of this situation are not good for RBR especially in light of the seat controversy that surrounded Checo approaching and during the summer break. It is going to be hugely important that RBR conduct PR clean-up (their brand has been notably uneven across the board as of late) with this once they settled, acknowledging and are ready to talk openly. Because, like everyone else I felt this was not the way to say good bye to Danny Ric publicly (specifically from the RBR brand perspective) and it is leaving a bitter pill in everyones mouth since everything points to him being out. Something else RBR and VCARB should seriously to consider is the "law of unintended consequences" when it comes to Liam (this is negative energy/controversy surrounding his second F1 debut which he doesn't deserve) trying to hit the ground running and in fighting form if indeed he is in the second VCARB seat at COTA.
