so I did this DIY project... here is my AAR... great idea and money saver if you only drive paved roads ie commuting to work and loved ones. BUT as I just experienced first hand on a gravel dirt road for 4x4 vehicles meaning it's an unpaved bumpy road, that this DIY method is more on the not good side. here is why, I did a 12 mile gravel road trail yesterday and during the trails minor bumps (mind you motorcyclists drive this trail) the weight of my jack wiggle back on forth so much that it literally snapped the screw rod at the apex at the bolt and hinge. now it's not that your idea isn't awesome as crap but it just means your idea isn't strong enough for jolts and bumps. again, great idea for common commuting but not for the slightest bit of off road. cheers either way bro!

OK so I'm having a hard time finding the threaded rod, have been to home depot. And lows no one carried it... m8 1.25 right? Any other ideas? Thanks.

What type of black tubing did u use?

The allthread had purple paint on the tip. Different than all the SAE. The plastic pipe doesn't matter as long as it fits snug in the shoulder nut, but not over the shoulder nut. I'm going to mention again that this debilitated the windshield washer fluid spray nozzle and must be relocated. Use your imagination. I did a two nozzle set up by the blade mounts. They sell them at AutoZone

I'm sure it would. make sure you measure the distance between your hood hinges vs the distance between the holes in the jack

Also I figured out a week later that the Jack blocks your washer fluid sprayer, and you must relocate it

I think it is the tubing for automatic sprinkler systems. Has little to no structural integrity. Just cosmetic.
