Boy after crash: ‘I could have died’ without bike helmet

Authorities in Oceana County say a basic helmet likely saved the life of a 12-year-old cyclist who was involved in a crash with a vehicle. (June 15, 2016)

Yeh I'm a avid biker and at 17 most of my friends not only don't wear a helmet but even tease me for wearing one, saying helmets are only for younger kids/ppl who aren't good at biking. Helmets are for everyone regardless of how old you are(we all have a very vulnerable skull) or how good your biking skill is. I honestly hate teens in my generation willing to do stupid stuff just to look "cool" / trendy. I've been biking since I was 4, I ride my bike better than I can walk, but still unexpected things can happen. There's a reason professional cyclists wear helmet

I have been wearing a helmet while riding a bike on pretty much every ride I go on. But after watching this video, I’m thankful that I wear a bicycle helmet to protect myself from head and brain injuries and death.

I've busted two bike helmets on a sharp protruding tree stump root and once crashing at 30 mph downhill on a curbside.
I never ride without one on.
